eReach Emergency Base Station featured in #MMShakeDrill

eReach Emergency Base Station used in the 2018 Shake Drill. In partnership with Globe, Entropy showcased the eReach Emergency Base Station is flown in from Plaridel Airport to VMMC and Camp Aguinaldo.

In anticipation of The Big One, the Metro Manila Development Authority aims to prepare the people of the possible dangers of the earthquake. The annual #MMShakeDrill drill is geared towards assessing and strengthening the capacity of individuals, households, and local government units in responding to the “Big One.” In the staging and planning of the earthquake drill, the MMDA has divided Metro Manila into 4 quadrants.

In partnership with the various agencies and other stakeholders, MMDA has organized a composite team of representatives from the MMDA, Metro Manila Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council, Philippine National Police, Armed Forces of the Philippines, and local DRRMOs in each quadrant. They are expected to simulate particular earthquake scenarios in their respective areas.

“No one can predict when an earthquake will happen. We must be prepared at all times so we want the shake drill unannounced,” said MMDA General Manager Jojo Garcia.

So how does eReach play in all of the events?

eReach is expected to be utilized during the worst conditions, where all communications systems are down assuming that it has been destroyed by the earthquake, the rescuers or telco providers just need to boot up the base station and provide service to the people. It will help for easier coordination and rescue.
